HDPE Material Specifications
PTFE and HDPE are naturally slick causing no need for lubricants of any kind to be used in any of Voss’ manufacturing processes. The resin in all Voss SingleSample HDPE products is a natural, virgin, high-density HDPE. No regrinds are accepted, and the same material is used consistently from run to run. The HDPE used in Voss SingleSample products contains no plasticizers or additives.
Voss Manufacturing
Voss PTFE bailers are conventional and hand machined out of solid rod and block stock. Bailers are potentially exposed to volatile compounds and may require decontamination. Every Voss bailer is produced under entirely different conditions; the top piece, bottom valve and removal device are injection molded, with all tubing extruded. All of these processes take place off-site, away from the assembly facility.
Voss Production
Once the parts are molded or extruded, they are packaged and shipped directly to our Voss Technologies assembly facility. Prior to assembly, all parts and tubing are immediately washed in Liquinox TM Detergent and rinsed individually with DI water. (This is a precautionary step, taken by Voss to remove any traces of compounds that may have found their way onto the tube through touch-transfer or other means in the manufacturing phase of production).
Following the wash and rinse, all parts and tubing are air-dried in a controlled room and, after completely dried, are assembled and individually inserted into HDPE bags. All Voss HDPE bags are 2ml thick that do not contain any plasticizers.
Finally, Voss bailers are packed in natural corrugated boxes that are assembled using exterior tape only, to eliminate glues containing volatiles that are sometimes used in these types of corrugated boxes.
Voss Special Cleaning Procedures
The following special cleaning procedure is available for Voss SingleSample bailers. This cleaning procedure supplements the regular manufacturing and cleaning procedure; all steps not outlined here remain unchanged.
Under this procedure, all components are:
- Washed thoroughly with LiquinoxTM laboratory detergent.
- Rinsed thoroughly with DI water
- Rinsed with 10% Nitric Acid solution
- Rinsed thoroughly, again, with DI water
- Rinsed with Isopropanol
- Dried in a closed room
New Jersey Voss Special Cleaning Procedures
The following Voss special cleaning procedure is available for SingleSample bailers to meeting New Jersey cleaning requirements.
Under this procedure, all components are:
- Washed thoroughly with LiquinoxTM laboratory grade detergent and tap water
- Put through a generous tap water rinse
- Rinsed with distilled and DI water
- Rinsed with 10% Nitric Acid reagent grade solution
- Rinsed thoroughly, again, with distilled and DI water
- Rinsed with pesticide grade Acetone
- Dried in a closed room
- Rinsed one last time in distilled and DI water
